Hello Everyone!
Okay!
This week was owned by reflection. By study. By the Spirit. in 2015 I am striving to create a journal that records things as they really are. When I write each night (every single day of 2015!- that's my goal) I pray and ask Heavenly Father to help me remember the spiritual experiences I have had, and to be able to record special things for whoever will read my journal in the future. So I'm changing some of the things I put into my journal. I'm being more positive, more focused on my feelings about the gospel, and including in the things that we do and the miracles I see. And I've really enjoyed it!
Monday: We spent the evening of our preparation day with a less active family. They wished they had known about the gospel earlier, and how it would help her children and husband! But she is doing well now and is determined to get back into Church. She's definitely seeing the blessings and how happy it makes her! It was a windy day here in Presque Isle!
Tuesday: We volunteered at the gathering place and were once again petitioned to sing at the karaoke machine. Thankfully the man running it had some gospel songs, so we got the whole room going to "He's got the whole world in His hands" It was pretty awesome. We re-taught the Law of Chastity to a recent convert, I do have to say, it goes a lot smoother when you are teaching someone who already knows! That evening we went to a ward sports night of sorts. At the White's barn they gather the members to play Speedball! A game that takes far too much energy to explain. It was incredibly fun though!
Wednesday: It was a very powerful day! We had a wonderful District Meeting in Houlton and I am always learning about service, humility, and love. We had a lesson that evening with our investigator. Unfortunately I feel like he isn't really interested in doing much about what he is learning. We try anyways.
Thursday: In the morning we met with a sister who was baptized this past year. We are re-teaching her the lessons and teaching simple doctrine. God is our Heavenly Father! He loves us. Little things that we all need to be reminded of. After meeting with her we went up to the church in Caribou and met with the Elders and our Zone Leaders (Elder Torrie and Elder Tusa) They answered questions we had about missionary work and we had some excellent discussions! That evening we had a wonderful supper at the Bensons house. The family with the Newfoundland Dog! I love moe :)
Friday: We contacted in a variety of ways, including facebook, calling people, knocking, store contacting (not my favorite) basically any way that we can find people to teach!
Saturday: It seemed like we were always running from this to that and never keeping track of what we were supposed to do! We had a full day from correlation with the Elders, a less active visit, creating the sandwich of destiny at subway (the elders recipe) , calling members, visiting with a recent convert, and being an hour late to our supper appointment with sister grover which in turn meant that we missed a different less active appointment! All I can say is that I would rather be busy than idle.
Sunday: I really enjoyed Church! At church we were able to invite two people to take the lessons, (people who member have brought with them!) And we are thrilled for that. We also ventured out into the far off land called Masardis (It's about an hour out) for a lesson with a man who is married to a member of the Church! He want's to be baptized and we set a tentative date for February 21st!
Whew! That was my week. Quite an earful I'm sure, and I still have more I just didn't include for the sake of space. Rest assured, the missionaries in Presque Isle are working as hard as we know how! I've learned that no matter how much we want to be we are just not perfect. But no matter how many mistakes we make, we can always pick ourselves back up! It's only through Christ that we can change, but it is possible to change. We just have to try!
Have a wonderful week, pray hard, work hard, and love every minute!
Love, Sister Smith
