Hello to you all,
How has your week been? We have been reading the Book of Mormon as a mission in the Month of May. What a wonderful blessing to have feel the spirit through scriptures.
So here's the scoop on my week!
Monday: What a fun day! The Youngs invited us over for a delicious spaghetti dinner. We had a Branch FHE (family home evening) where we studied Lehi's dream of the Tree of Life! To illustrate our point we brought over our Christmas tree and hung white powdered donuts on it! It was a fun little activity and the fruit was "most delicious!"
Tuesday: The highlights- Lessons with our investigator and Visiting Teaching with Sister Adams! The sisters in this branch are very strong. We actually have very few men in this branch, mostly faithful women!
Wednesday: We drove up to Gander for a Zone Training! Sister Hoy and I trained on using the Book of Mormon! How important it is :) We had a great time, even though we were rushed with the time. I did get to see Sister Spencer and Sister Fenn! My old companions and that was wonderful! The Shorts had us over for a delicious supper of turkey, potatoes, carrots and cabbage and beets and the list goes on, yum! It was so good. Then we went to a scripture study and taught the class on Repentance that time! That was our last big teaching thing of the week! Whew! We had been scrambling to organize all of those lessons!
Thursday: Surprise lunch and Lesson! and we picked up two new investigators! We knocked into them and found out later that they actually met with missionaries ten years ago! Then we went over to the Moores for delicious meal of chicken wraps.
Friday: Weekly Planning! The Gordon's (the senior couple who live above us) gave us some stir fry and we had that for lunch, then for supper we went over for a lesson and dinner with our friend again.
Saturday: We knocked, and met some really nice people in Spaniard Bay! then we volunteered at the SPCA Thrift Shop and headed out to eat at the Break Time Restaurant because our meal appointment fell through. (yay for fish and chips!)
Sunday: Church was interesting... we had some technical difficulties. But over all it went well. Our investigator came! Yay! . But she is solid! I forgot my scriptures (sheesh!) and so she shared with me. When the teacher asked the elders to read a passage they told her they forgot theirs and she said "Sheesh, what kind of missionary forgets their scriptures!?" Haha and we laughed, thankfully I could use hers! Then we headed up to Upper Island Cove. My, it was beautiful! And some of the people were extremely kind, others... not so much. But that's okay.
We had a great week, and a lot of miracles, one of them, which you may have noticed as we went along, is that we had so many meal appointments! Usually the missionaries get fed once a week. It was a great way for me to learn who all of the members are and to develop a relationship with them, so I know Heavenly Father's hand was there!
Love,
Sister Kat Smith
