Hey Everyone! How's it going?
Canada is Crazy, people talk weird here haha they have plastic money, and they all think that just because I'm from Alaska it must be summer to me here in -20 Celsius. haha I've seen a sunk and lots of crows. I've accidentally put tinfoil in the microwave...oops, and I've been eating a lot of grilled cheese and freezer burned chicken strips. Oh yeah, this is the life ;)
Monday: Nothing exciting. We just went around and tried to have a few lessons. No one was really interested though...
Tuesday: Zone Conference! We had to drive for about 3 hours to get there, which really hurt us for our driving for the month :P We wasted so many K's. (Kilometres) But the conference was really good. So it was worth it :) But that pretty much took up our whole day.
Wednesday: We did a lot of running around town to advertise for a benefit variety show for Wayne Spinn, a town councillor who was in the hospital. and we tried contacting our investigators but everyone is busy or out of town so that's rough.
Thursday: Lots of meetings, lots of going around trying to find people who will let us teach them. We had a great dinner with the Branch President's family. They are really cool, President Dourte's the best. We met a great woman from South America. She's met with missionaries down there before. But we couldn't understand each other very well. (She used translate on her phone to talk to us.) We're going to teach her today with a member who speaks Spanish. I'm so excited!
On Friday our zone leaders challenged us to getting 20 contacts which might not seem like a lot, but come to Montague and you'll understand. We did it though, we got 22! We had Weekly Planning which is a beast. But it was great too. I don't mind taking the time to plan things out and think things through if it will help us be more effective. We also had a lesson with a great lady, we're hoping to meet with her again when her work is less hectic, she's very well read so we need to be on the ball to teach her!
Saturday: My Best Friend/Big Sister's 25th Birthday! Woooo :D We got a great blessing. The church sent us a referral! That almost never happens here! We called him up and he said that he wanted to meet with us and get a Book of Mormon. Because he wanted to know why Mitt Romney was so dedicated to the Church. So he figured the best way to find out was read the book himself!! I wish EVERYONE thought that way. I'm so excited about him. We had two dinners. Woof! and we knocked some doors. Which wasn't too extremely successful.
Sunday: I love church, I Love learning from the members. They're so great. Unfortunately our investigator couldn't come. She's been sick all week and we haven't been able to meet with her. No baptismal date yet. But we're hopefully seeing her tonight. Her little girl really wants to come to church. They're such a wonderful family! We had some interesting lessons yesterday and had to drop 2 investigators, and our other lesson fell through.
It's been a hard week, and the area is slow. But we're determined to put forth our best efforts, learn more, try new things and never give up! I know that the Lord wants me here for a reason, so I'll just keep trying my best.
I hope all of you really work with missionaries to spread the gospel. It's so important even if it doesn't seem like it is. This is Eternal Salvation people! :D Love you all, stay safe and keep being amazing.
Love,
Sister Smith
