Well, I had a pretty crazy week! It was a lot of fun though.
Monday: P-day, we had a lesson fall through so we went to the YSA activity. We were supposed to go bowling but in the end went to the Church and played indoor soccer. It was a lot of fun! I love the YSA activities because we get all sorts out, members, less actives, recent converts, non-members, everyone! All are welcome and it is such a good way for them to strengthen each other.
Tuesday: We had some lessons fall through... again. . . But we were able to teach a recently baptized member. (well, not so recent any more, he just hit his 1 year mark!) then we knocked a little bit (in the freezing cold, felt like our ears were going to fall off!) before we drove up to Woodstock in Canada to meet with Sister Comfort and Sister Burton for exchanges. We swapped and I headed up to Saint John, New Brunswick for a couple of days to work with Sister Comfort!
Wednesday: I love Saint John! It's a city! There were so many office buildings, cars, and people. I was just loving it. We met all sorts of people (even a few crazies) and saw miracles! We were trying to go to a lesson but we couldn't get a hold of anyone who knew the address. Sister Comfort had only been there one time before and she basically just knew which part of the area it was in. So we said a prayer and started driving. And we didn't make a single wrong turn to when we ended up right in front of the lady's apartment! It was a small tender mercy, and a clear answer to prayer!
Thursday: I went to District Meeting in Saint John with some of the other missionaries. It was a lot of fun to learn about different ways of finding, and our attitudes! Just think, it took Nephi, Laman and Lemuel 3 chapters to go get a book. But it took them just 3 verses to go back and convince Ishmael and his entire family to leave their homes and go into the wilderness. Attitude is everything! After district meeting we did a little bit of contacting, but spent the majority of the day teaching! We had 5 lessons in a row! all different kinds, and it was SO fun! I've never taught so much in one day. And I loved every minute of it. That evening we drove back and I was returned to Sister Fenn. I missed her! It was fun to be away but I was also excited to go home.
Friday: Weekly Planning! then supper at the Slaughter's house. We had a good visit with them, talking about Family History and how important it is! That evening we stopped by some people and tried setting up appointments.
Saturday: We got to use facebook and at the Library I was able to introduce a man to familysearch.org. Every time we go to the library he asks us questions, shows us his findings and he is so excited to be doing family history work! We had a lesson with a recent convert. She's doing well! We re-taught the word of wisdom and had a good lesson. We had a fun evening! An 8 year old girl got baptized! and then we had the ward Chili Cook-off! We were the judges, (man there were so many different Chili's) and we also tried cornbread! It was a lot of fun.
Sunday: Transfer Letters!!! Sister Fenn and I are staying in Presque Isle for another transfer. Elder Knowles is headed home, and will have completed a full time mission! Elder Wanlass is training! So it should be fun in our area. After Church we had a wonderful Dinner (lunch) with the Patten family, and that evening we had a lesson with one of the member's girlfriend. It was our second lesson with her, and she agreed to set a baptismal date for February 28th! We are so excited for her!
There's an incredible feel out here. I love serving a mission!
Have a great week! Sister Smith
