What a wonderful time of the year! I hope you all had a great time. And drew closer to your family and your savior!
Life in Maine is pretty great. In fact, any time you cross a state line you see the sign "Maine, the way life should be" Fairly accurate. Though I don't think anyone should live where it gets below -40 degrees. (we haven't hit that yet. but I hear it is coming)
Well this week was a blast! It was Christmas week.
Monday: We had a lesson with our investigator. She was really understanding the message! It was so exciting and I definitely felt the Spirit there. We then attended the YSA game night. It's such a different world up here for the YSA (young single adults) back in Utah there are just way more. But they still have fun and do their best!
Tuesday: We served lunch at the Gathering Place and got corralled into singing a Christmas song for everyone. It was a lot of fun! I could tell we were singing to the Elderly though because everyone complimented us ;).
Wednesday: Christmas Eve! We started out with a District Meeting in Houlton. Which is quite the drive (about an hour) and we learned some really great things about Faith! We just have to have a correct faith and understand that "Our Strength" Is nothing, we can't do anything compared to Heavenly Father and his Power! So we have to rely on God. that's all there is to it That evening we ate supper at the Stepps. They are such a cute family. Sister Stepp gave Sister Fenn and I both Christmas presents! We put them under our tree :)
Thursday: "Silent Night, Holy Night." Hopefully Christ's Birth wasn't as filled with rain as our Christmas was! Sister Fenn and I had a great morning. We had a very special breakfast, bacon and eggs, mango and blue berries! Yum! Then we opened our presents. They were all so wonderful. We skyped home. It was so fun to see everyone. I don't think anyone has changed. And my cute puppy dogs were there too! Then we had Christmas dinner at the Mcfearsons! It was a delicious meal. So wonderful. This Christmas we were told we wouldn't be able to watch a disney movie like usual, so instead we knocked on the doors of our investigators and members and sang Christmas songs to some of them. It was so fun. I had a wonderful Christmas and was so happy to celebrate it here in Presque Isle.
Friday: We had another lesson with our investigator and she's doing great! We knocked and miraculously received 3 referrals. Which was wonderful, and we had a lesson with a recent convert.. She's so cute! We taught her about God's love.
Saturday: It was a busy day. From our Zone Training in the morning to supper at Angie's we had a day of running hither and thither. I did love the Skype Zone Training. I learned so much! I also got to give a five minute talk about following the will of the Lord.
Sunday: Church is wonderful as always :) And we had a special treat of Supper at Bishop Freeman's house. We made snowflakes with his kids and talked about setting goals for the new year! It was so much fun. We also had a great lesson with our friend again, this time about the Book of Mormon!
It's been quite the week. And I'm sure there were all sorts of miracles and funny stories, but I'm drawing a blank. All I know is that I love it. I love my family, and I love the people out here! I am so thankful to be serving.
Love you all,
Sister Smith
